Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies (CSDMS) is organising a three-day conference and exhibition titled ‘Indian Telecentre Forum 2006’ to be held in conjunction with ‘egov India 2006’ and ‘Digital Learning India 2006’ on August 23-25, 2006 at Hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi, India.

The conference and workshop programme has been conceptualised to bring Indian and international practitioners on a single platform for learning and sharing experiences, and to address critical issues of content, collaboration, sustainability and up scaling. Further, issues relating to project monitoring, steered by external financial support, either from international development agencies, or from governments in Asia, will be closely assessed.

The Indian Telecentre Forum 2006 will highlight trends and strategies all over the world in telecentre domain, bringing forth the challenges and opportunities specific to Asian region. Along with the exhibition, it will be a forum to showcase best practices, innovative technologies and ICT solutions for the rural sector. For all stakeholders with an interest in telecentre initiatives, it will be an ideal place to meet old friends, make new friends, share notes and foster partnerships. It will provide a knowledge-sharing platform, where one could hear and meet the policymakers, practitioners, industry leaders and academicians of Asia-Pacific nations and learn to carry forward telecentre initiatives, by consolidating them into actionable programme.

We invite stakeholders from NGOs, governments, private sector, donors, development agencies, academia research community, etc. to participate in this forum. Please provide a brief outline (abstract of no more than 500 words) of your work and the perspectives that you wish to share in this forum. You will have an opportunity to showcase your work, share your experiences, and learn from others in dialogues/workshops. Presentations, short case study papers, posters and video and exhibitions are different formats in which sharing will take place.

Some of the key themes of the conference sessions include (among others):

* The Telecentre Forum – Vision 2010
* South Asian Telecentre movement – Catalytic Factors
